while you wait…

I know you’re probably eager for news about the giveaway.  Well, there are lots of entrants, which is great!  But right now, I want to share with you a pattern that I came up with yesterday and today.  It’s for a shawl-like neck warmer.  It’s made in the usual triange/half-circle shawl shape, and if you put it on with the point towards the front and wrap the ends around your neck, you can fasten them underneath the point part under your chin with a button, if you like.  I hope you like it!

And if you like, I just put it on Ravelry so you can put it in your favorites or in your queue if you like.

Hope you enjoy!

lots of things

It’s been a while!  A few days, anyway.  I’ve been hoping that my final giveaway items would come in the mail, but they haven’t.  I talked to someone at the company they were shipping from and got it all straightened out, so it shouldn’t be too much longer before the giveaway starts!  I’m sorry for the delay.  It’s annoying to me, too.  In the meantime:

I started another Juliana Wrap, but this one’s not for me.  It’s for my mom!  She wanted cream colors, so I got some from Knitpicks and have gotten this far (which is not very).

I ordered some yarn on tophatter.com, which is my new favorite website for spending money needlessly, and it came in the other day.  I’m excited.  It’s a total of 500 yards of recycled worsted weight yarn (50% wool, 20% viscose, 15% nylon, 10% angora, 5% cashmere).  I don’t know what to make with it yet, I just bought it on a whim.  It’s good that I have it now though because I spent way too much money on that website, and now I must scrounge to get through the next couple of months.  I probably won’t be buying more yarn anytime soon.  That’s OK though, because I have quite the stash!

Well, hopefully my next post will be announcing the beginning of my giveaway.  I hope the items come in tomorrow!  Should be any time now.  See you soon!

Here’s the tutorial for my crocheted pincushion!

I hope you enjoy it!

announcement #2:

Aaaaaand, I’ve got a little tidbit of news.  Remember that secret thing I mentioned a couple of posts ago?  Well maybe not, but there’s something awesome coming.  It’s almost ready, too!  Ok ok, I’ll tell you — I’m just too excited to keep it in.

That’s right!  A giveaway!  But, not all of the components for this giveaway have arrived in the mail yet, so I’m not going to reveal what I’ll be giving away!  I’m just gonna tell you it’s a good bit of stuff.  It’s my first giveaway, after all, so it has to be good.  It’s to celebrate having over 50 followers on this site, and to say thank you!  There will have to be a couple of stipulations for you to enter, but nothing strenuous or annoying, I promise.  Also, the giveaway won’t be open for long, so you’ll probably want to check back every couple of days to make sure you don’t miss it.  Of course, I don’t know how long it will take for the last component to come in, but if it takes too long I’m probably going to get too impatient and I’ll throw in something different.

Anyway, I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am!  I’ll be posting again soon either way.  Thanks for visiting!

a little project

I saw a cool pincusion pattern on ravelry!  But it’s a knitted pincushion.  I didn’t want for it to take forever, so I quickly improvised my own pincushion that is almost exactly the same, but crocheted.  I used a US7 hook and some Caron Simply Soft, and I’m pretty happy with my results:

Mine kinda looks like a happy cupcake or something… It’s stable though, and definitely will be useful.  If anybody is interested in making this crocheted pincushion, please leave a comment letting me know and I’ll write something up real quick.

Thanks for stopping by!

current projects

I’ve been working on 2 items, both Harry Potter related (I know, I’m such a nerd).

The first one is the hat Hermione wore in HP7 (pattern here).  It’s really pretty and doesn’t blatantly scream Harry Potter:

My second WIP is more obnoxious, or at least it has the potential to be.  I’m making a Weasley sweater (pattern here), and I’m still unsure of whether or not to add the giant H on the front.  In the movie of course it stands for Harry, but since my name is Hannah it would totally work.  But do I want to be that blatant of a fan?  We’ll have to see.  Here’s what I’ve got so far of the back piece:

And it’s about 14″ from the bottom, so I’m about halfway done with this section:

Can’t wait to make more progress in both of these!  Oh and I also have a sock, but I haven’t touched it in a while:

I managed the provisional cast on toe and then got burned out on how difficult I found it and how slow it was going, so I stopped for a while.

Thanks for viewing my current projects, I’ll update soon!
