hats for clients

My boss also crochets and had the great idea that we use some of our easy-care stash yarn to make hats for our clients, who often don’t have the money to buy themselves things like that for the winter.  We both got really busy though, and didn’t get to make as many as we would have liked.  I’ve made 13 and my goal was about 30 or so.  Fortunately, one of our interns also crochets and she attends a church that has a knitting/crocheting group, and they all pitched in to help, too.  Now we have enough hats and scarves for all of the clients!  Here are the 13 I made:

I’ve actually got a couple more hats for them that I’d knitted previously and just don’t want (I mean, how many hats can I really make for myself?), but these are the ones I made specifically for this purpose.  I’m glad there will be enough for everybody!

Well that’s all for today.  I need to get crackin’ on my last Christmas gift.  See you soon, and thanks for stopping by!  Oh and don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

counter turn hat: ta-da!

The Counter Turn pattern is one in a set of three similar knitted cabled hats (the set of patterns costs money) that are great for gifts and work up relatively quickly.  I’ve made this one in Berroco Vintage (52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon) in red:

I was too lazy to do the recommended cast on, and its sloppy finish demonstrates that lapse, but overall I’m happy with this.  It’s very stretchy and I plan on giving it to a man for Christmas.  I might take the pompom off, actually… do guys like pompoms?

Well, that’s all for today, short and sweet!  Thanks so much for stopping by, see you soon!

Hunger Games hat, try #2

Almost 2 years ago now I made a reversible hat with Purl Soho’s pattern, but I made it a wee bit short, so since I had plenty of leftover yarn I finally decided to make another one!

The firey yarn is in colorway District 12, and the candy colored one is in colorway Effie Trinket:

Both yarns were bought on Etsy ages ago, and both are 80% merino, 20% nylon.  Nice and soft!

As I said with the first hat I really like the idea of having a reversible hat that represents two completely opposite ways of life coming together.  Maybe I put too much thought into some projects, and maybe I’m way too nerdy, but whatever, I love my hat!

Since it’s double layered it should be nice and warm when winter comes (although that much insulation might not be needed often here).

This is a fun and easy knit that doesn’t take too much time or brain power but keeps the hands busy.  Perfect for a break between complicated projects!

Well, that’s all for today, thanks for stopping by!

snowbelle trapper hat: ta-da!

This took one evening to complete, but I had more issues with the pattern that I would have expected for something that was $5.  The pattern was easy enough that I probably could have figured it out without purchasing, and the hat is too small.  I ripped it out and added more increase rows at the beginning but it was still too small and I had to block it.  First hat I’ve ever had to block.

I like the pom-pom though — I finally bought some plastic pom-pom makers after all these years of knitting & crocheting, and I love it!  Gonna wanna put pom-poms on everything.  🙂

There’s some other stuff I’m working on too but I’m getting married in less than a month, so planning is in full swing and there have already been a few times I’ve wanted to post something but just didn’t have the energy (like posting takes energy…).

Well, that’s all for tonight, thanks for stopping by!
