surprise appearance in “Inside Crochet”

A follower of NYAC’s facebook page alerted me today that I am in the 50th issue of “Inside Crochet!”

I was astonished (not the least because I’d had no idea about it) and immediately bought the issue on my iPad.  Sure enough, there on page 6 was a small blurb about the as-we-go stripey blanket that was the focus of our first crochet along!  I’m sincerely honored.  There’s another CAL going on right now following the pattern (only it’s translated into Dutch), and I believe it’s #crochetalong2014 on Instagram.  The blog for that current Dutch CAL is here.

Of course I’m very excited to be in a magazine, but I do wish the magazine had contacted me first so that I could have given credit to Julie over at Little Woolie — her blanket was the inspiration for mine and they are, after all, pretty similar.  I almost feel like it’s cheating, being in the magazine when she’s not given credit.  Well, she’s getting credit here; her blanket is amazing and she’s a great inspiration (she’s also a really nice person!).

Well, that’s my fun announcement for the day.  I haven’t been crocheting or knitting at all in the past week so there’s nothing else really going on, but hopefully there will be soon.  I’ve actually written up a new little Spring pattern that I will be sharing in the near future!  Hope to see you back soon!

  1. Congratulations! I have been in a couple magazines myself. Some I knew about and some I didn’t. If it weren’t for followers letting me know…I would have missed it. I’m not sure why they don’t at least let you know so you could purchase their magazine!

  2. You ran a great CAL and made a stunning blanket, I’m so glad a magazine picked up on it 🙂 (Even though I wasnt able to join in, I followed all the posts!!!) Well done, you.

  3. You took the time and effort to write it as a pattern for all of us so you deserve credit too. It’s all over the Internet, Facebook, Pinterest, well done Hannah.

  4. Well done Hannah! That must have made your day 😀
I agree, I haven’t seen the issue yet but it is a shame for Jules as it was originally her design, but being lovely, as you say, I’m sure she’ll be happy that you’re featured. As Patch says your tutorials are clear and easy to follow, so credit where it’s due.

  6. Been making your blanket since Christmas and I really love it – amazing how different it looks with different colours – I will post a picture when it is finished. I had a look at the Dutch version (I am a Dutch speaking Belgian) – one lot of instructions per week so easy to follow and people are encouraged to report on the easy of nstructions. Lookign forward to your next project.

  7. That’s great! And well done for mentioning Julie at Little Woolie too. I’m surprised such a big magazine wouldn’t want to make sure they were giving the right person credit! 🙂

  8. Congratulations! You did a lot of work and really deserve this honor. So does Julie for her idea 🙂 It was a great CAL, and one of these days, I’ll actually finish mine 🙂

  9. Congrats! It was a wonderful CAL and you put a lot of hard work into it, I’m glad it was recognised 🙂

  10. Congratulations! Your afghan was my first CAL and I love the finished product,
not to mention that it was fun to crochet.

  11. It’s a beautiful blanket and well done for being in the magazine. However I do think you ought to contact the magazine to ask them to acknowledge Julie as the creator in the next issue. It is hard for creatives in all areas when work is used without acknowledgement (I know as i have just had photos used in a double magazine spread without any reference to me as the photographer! ) Perhaps you could refer to it in your crochet a long pattern as it implies there that it is an original design. Best wishes and, again, well done.

  12. Congratulations , i follow the dutch translation because englisch patren is the same as Russian fore me. I be verry happy that i can make this beatifull call along. So thank you verry mutch and Julie to !

  13. Congrats Hannah!!!!

I hear you re contacting you and giving Little Woollie credit. While that should have been done, it doesn’t take away from your accomplishment and the way you ran that CAL! Well done!

  14. I am taking part in the CAL this year and attempting a mixed stitch blanket, so have been using yours and Little Woolies as inspiration and using some of your instructions for stitches. They are wonderfully written by you both and you have both made gorgeous blankets! So well done for being in the magazine! How special!

  16. Hello Hannah, it’s amazing what is happening in Holland. Everbody want to make this beautifull blanket.
Some people are so enthusiastic and want faster than the hooks Crochet Along. We refer these people to you site because the pattern can be found here. But of course Little Woolie also a source of inspiration
Many crochet workers in Holland are very happy with this project, so thanks again that we can do this
    Kind regards
    Tertia

  17. I didn’t follow along with the original CAL, but used your instructions later, and I just wanted to let you know that I entered it into our local show and it won first prize in it’s class and got Reserve Champion!

Your CAL is a huge success in the Netherlands. Did you know that there is a facebook group with people all hooking your blanket that now has almost 22,000 members? https://www.facebook.com/groups/516439688378675/
