cushion ta-da and ooey gooey feelings

blooming flower complete front 2

Ta-da!  I finished my cushion (pattern here)!  I did end up using 5 of Chris’ T-shirts to stuff it — I was too antsy to wait for an actual pillow form in the mail.  It turned out great — it’s nice and firm and only a little lumpy, but you can kinda just mush it into shape and it’s lovely and supportive!  Here’s the back:

I used the same color sequence as the front because it would have bothered me if it was different.  I used all 17 colors from the Deramores Lucy Pack leftovers (from this blanket), and I still have enough yarn to probably make another cushion!  Next time I get this pack I will not skimp on blanket size — one pack is probably enough to cover a double bed!

About dem feelins.  I’m definitely down today.  I’m consoling myself with the fact that I’ve made a couple of new friends lately and of course I’ve got my best friend and boyfriend, Chris.  He always makes me feel better when I’m down, and I’m very thankful for him.  I also made a list of 10 things that make me happy:

  1. reading
  2. knitting/crocheting
  3. Dr. Pepper
  4. my boyfriend
  5. my dog
  6. my family/my boyfriend’s family
  7. the friends that I do have
  8. comfy pajamas
  9. good music/TV shows
  10. pretty things in nature, i.e. flowers, ocean, fields

I can keep going, but 10 is enough to make me smile.

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll be more positive next time! 🙂

Look on the bright side, you don’t have to shell out for an over priced, ugly bridesmaid dress that you will never ever wear again. It’s also more fun to be a guest at a wedding than to be in a wedding party. Treasure the real friends you have and don’t fret over the others, they are not worth your time but your real friends are.
The pillow looks marvelous and definitely needs a mate to keep it company on the sofa.

  2. LOVE the cushion, it is adorable! I am jonesing for that yarn pack. 🙂

As for the brides – it is hard but true, they can’t have everyone in the wedding.. But look at it this way – you don’t have to buy dresses, shoes, pay for showers. I hope you are wrong about the invitation, though. That would be too bad.

Now why do you hope they don’t read this? Don’t you want them to know how you feel?

    • I guess I don’t want them to know, because I don’t want to start any arguments or make them upset. I don’t see them much anyway anymore now that I’m in grad school.

Great cushion. Sorry to hear you’re feeling down but hopefully it will have made you feel slightly better by writing down your feelings and putting them out there. I’ve been on the other side of this situation and lost a friend because I didnt ask her to be my bridesmaid. She only spoke to me a handful of times after I set the date. I just tell myself that perhaps she wasn’t the friend I thought she was and that I was right not to ask her to be a bridesmaid.

  4. Hey you! Chin up. If there is one thing i’ve learned with girlfriends it’s that you may only find one true one in your life. I myself have been stomped on by more girlfriends then enough, and have not once been asked to stand in a wedding. I have found a great group of knit buds after moving 5200km across the country 3 years ago. I only see them once or twice a month with my work schedule but they are there if i need to chat or have a knitting related question. Plus we get together for Birthdays. My husband is my Best friend, he is who i complain to, talk to, have fun with and share all my good times and memories with. Cherish the good memories you have and don’t fret about what others think or feel. The people that you matter to will make sure your a part of there life and the one’s that don’t , don’t deserve you anyway. I have to say i love your List of things that make you smile. Here is mine:

    1. Knitting
    2.My Husband/Family
    3. My Kitties
    4.Hot bubble baths
    5. A Good Book
    6. Hunting/Fishing
    7. Camp Fires
    8.The sound of nature
9.Candle light even if you have power
    10. Woodstoves with glass fronts.

Love the cushion 🙂 Very cool!!!

    Kathy 🙂

    • Thanks! You’re totally right. And I love your list — if I’d thought of some of those I would have put them in mine! I love bubble baths, campfires, and wood stoves!

  5. The pillow is great! When you’re feeling better, come do a spot for me. You’ll be amazed at what blogging biddies will do for you in addition to making you smile!

Love your blog all the way from Israel….

  7. Weddings are so fraught with dibs going to family members for roles a lot and other politics around selection. Just be relieved you won’t see yourself in numerous photos in ten years time wearing what you will then consider to be a hideous dress!

  8. Oh Hannah, I hope you’re feeling better about it now and there’s not much more I can add to what these ladies have already stated. They may also think they’re helping by not giving you another obligation (time and financial) while you’re at such a hefty point in your education. Like Kathryn said, weddings are a political mess most of the time, be happy you’re not in the middle of any of the stress 🙂

That pillow is so funky & bright, I just adore it 😀

    • I didn’t think about it in terms of not wanting to give me another obligation, that’s a good point. I am feeling better about it — I guess I was being too sensitive. 🙂 And I’m glad you like the pillow! I’m making another one right now!

  9. I’m sorry to hear that you are feeling sad. I don’t know you personally, but I think that you are sweet, kind and full of personality. It may not be their choosing or you could be right about the number of guests. And I have to agree with Kathryn on this one; don’t worry over not so nice friends and keep the true friends close. Your pillow is so awesome. I also think that a second one would be perfect. :o)

  10. The way things are going, you’re probably going to be making a third one…:-)
It’s possible that those two girls were pushed into asking cousins or sisters or nieces to be their bridesmaids – who knows what weird ideas people follow these days! I agree with what Kathryn said. Stick with that.
Personally I can’t imagine anything worse than being a bridesmaid. I was once, when I was just 4, for a friend of my mother’s, and was thrilled to be in a long peach satin dress with flowers in my hair. So thrilled, in fact, that I vomited with excitement outside the church and so never actually made the retinue anyway 😦 Sigh. Hope that made you smile!
